History

On September 5, 1989, the doors of Scranton Area Christian Academy (affectionately known as SACA), were opened to educate children of all denominations.  Housed first in the Peckville Assembly of God Church, SACA moved to the Clarks Green Assembly of God and changed its name to reflect the community it was serving – Abington Christian Academy (ACA).

In June of 2016, the Academy relocated to the spacious Chinchilla United Methodist Church (CUMC) in South Abington Township. There the Academy continued adding higher grades and increasing enrollment. In December of 2024, CUMC closed its doors, necessitating an unexpected move for ACA. The Peckville Assembly of God in Blakely graciously welcomed the Academy to share its classroom spaces in their beautiful, modern facility. The following summer the Academy moved to its new home on the corner of Keystone Avenue and Brook Street in Peckville. We currently serve students through 8th grade, allowing us to add and shape the Dialectic (Logic) stage of classical learning.

Over the past 30 years ACA has been blessed to shape – and to be shaped – by the students, teachers, administrators, board members and organizations who have contributed to its legacy.

We stand today on the shoulders of faithful people who have given time, talents, and financial resources on behalf of the hundreds of young people who have passed through our doors.
